Thank you! I had a feeling you would like them.

Your "crap" did relatively well last year, so you never know. Maybe you can at least make the final three years in a row. That would be a first actually, so good luck!

Cute twinks have a high priority in my music selection  . Just joking... the song is actually really good.

The winning song was not crap. Most of the others were. Though I didn't like the winner as much either. We will just have to wait and see.

I finally got around to listening to all the songs we chose from this year, for once we chose the right one and it isn't completely out of touch with contemporary music. It's just a bit too The Script, and part of me was just thinking "why don't we just send The Script" all the way though it. But then why would The Script be our entry? Why would they subject themselves to that.

You know who we should just send? Katsina and The Waves. Is it in the rules that we can't just enter the same act twice?

The Script are Irish so that probably won't work however no restriction on the nationality of the performers exists, which has resulted in countries being represented by artists who are not nationals of that country.

I don't think there's any rules about that, Cliff Richard did perform twice for UK.

Well our selection was today... and I am happy with the choice. It is nothing too special and probably won't do too well. But it was probably the best choice of what was on offer.

I also liked this song:

Skip the rapping part and go to the cute young twink singing. That just melted my heart.

I really need to go through and listen to all of the songs, but I have a habit of waiting until they have all been announced and I do like my habits, so it seems I shall be waiting until mid-March!

I used to write up a blog on a certain Eurovision chat forum that I used to frequent, but I doubt the appetite for such a blog would be great enough here so I'll refrain from spamming you all. :P

I haven't heard it yet, but lots of people are raving about Hungary, Cyprus and France so far this year. Two of these countries hasn't won before and the other hasn't won since the 1970's so I'd be happy for any of them to win.

Another thing that you could see during our national selection is the presenter taking a piss out of Putin. In a 3 minute long song (yes, it is in English). Why? I have no fucking idea.

And also from the last years winning song (this one is not in English):

I don't know which one was weirder, but it's probably the first one. It's actually a bit disturbing.

QUEEEEEN Dami Im has been confirmed to represent Australia in Stockholm this year!!!

Image

Australian broadcaster, SBS, has announced Dami Im will represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden! After Guy Sebastian wowed Europe with a top 5 finish as Australia’s first ever Eurovision contestant in 2015, Australia is back for another dose of Eurovision glitz and glamour, and another shot at Eurovision glory.

The song will be revealed on the 11th of March.

Australia has decided on its Eurovision entry for 2016 and it's Dami Im, a former X Factor winner.

Can we take a moment to complain about the change to the voting format this year? I don't care what the juries think- if anything they should get less weighting. I want to hear the public vote in detail.

Why? The public vote is what's wrong with Eurovision, it's shambolic.

Agreed. If only we could go back to the days when only clever, informed people were allowed to vote. It'd be nice to apply that to the British political voting system too.

You're just jealous that you're not European. :P

If you ever watched Eurovision I think you would enjoy it. Give it a chance!

You never know, maybe America will be competing one day. (Over my dead body.)

Maybe one day Europe will stop rolling over on its NATO obligations and then it won't feel the need to express its insecurity complex by putting on this oh-so exclusive queer pageant every year.

^ That looks really kooky. They should just keep sending Valentina Monetta. I love her!

In other news, I heard that Croatia have picked a fairly good song. I hope that's right because they haven't been in the final since 2009, so they deserve a change in luck.
