Lots of people seemed to like the Dutch entry. It's quite unexpected because a lot of the fans who have been following this for months (including myself) weren't sure whether he would qualify for the final.

Interesting. But I guess that is proves my point that Eurovision always values screaming women with revealing clothing more than anything else.

But all in all - I am pretty happy with the results for once. I'm mad that Iceland didn't come through but I'll survive.

Greece was horrible. I can't decide which was worse - Greece or San Marino. And I was shocked that Malta came through. I don't remember the song at all. I remember her boobs and the backing dancer - mostly the backing dancer. Though half of the time the screen was filled with her boobs.

Second semi final looks a lot more interesting. I hope that we get into the finals. But I have a huge suspicion that we won't.

I didn't really notice her boobs at all.

I think you might have a bit of a struggle tonight, but it could be close. You are straight after Australia, which is dangerous but your song is the only one in its genre so you never know! I just hope she doesn't do that dodgy costume change.

Also, I'll be interested to see if Måns' presenting skills have improved since Tuesday. Either way, I think that Petra would present this better by herself.

Its weird that a country that hosted it three years ago and spend their winter doing Melodifestivalen are having such technical problems.

Also, it might be more apparent on Saturday when we have more performers, but literally about 90% of the performers this year have opted for blue lighting as their background. Everything is so blue this year!

I don't really have any strong favourites this year, I can't say I'm too happy with this year personally :(

OMG!
Fuck, shit, yes, no, ... every emotion possible.

This was a lot better than the first semi final. Staging was now much better, songs were WAY better and everything was nice :D .

Until the voting of course...

I am horrified that Ireland and Denmark didn't get through. I somehow have a feeling that Eurovision gods hate Ireland so I was kind of expecting it to not do well.

It was also entirely clear after the first 10 songs were performed that we had no chance of getting through. I liked all of the first 13 songs. Some a lot more than the others, but none of them were bad.

Until we came to Ukraine. What was that horrific thing? And every song after that was bad as well. Except maybe Norway.

Surprises of the night? Israel and Lithuania. They were awesome. I voted for Lithuania because well... cute twink. :P

I am not bitter because we didn't get though. But I am very bitter that Ukraine, Georgia and Belgium got through. Those places should go to Denmark, Ireland or someone else.

Ukraine is amazing! I voted for her. I also voted for Serbia, Bulgaria and Belarus. Three out of four ain't bad.

I was going to vote for Norway too, but I didn't really think she impressed me enough. It's sad to see Kaliopi miss out too, but her song was just too dated.

P.S. Donny Montell is so not a twink. He did well though, so I'm glad to see him on Saturday. He should flex his arms more though. :D

I'm pleased we are near the end, although being followed by Armenia could be dangerous.

Are you kidding? Ireland won seven times, even three times in a row!

He didn´t sing well, it made me crinch. I don´t know how he did on the tape that was made in advance (I didn´t watch those), but the live performance was about the worse of the evening. And that one counts.

I actually liked Georgia. Refreshing. Not that I think they should win, but I understand they got through.

I voted for Serbia.

Even my mother likes Ukraine. The fuck is wrong with you people?

And Donny Montell is totally a twink. He is a young looking thin guy. That's a twink in my book.

They did win yes - years ago. But look at their results from the past few years. Not really great, are they? And most of their songs were quite good.

To be honest I don't really give that much shit about the live performance. It's a fun addition, but I care a lot more about the song itself. Does it make me feel or provoke a positive emotional response from me?

Who does everyone think will win? Everyone is saying Russia and their odds are pretty ridiculous now. It looks like it will be Sochi 2017 unless someone can swoop in at the last minute.

You were saying the eurovison gods didn´t like Ireland, you can´t state that if they have a history with winnings.
If they didn´t win lately, thats taw luck, so didn´t 20+ other contries, you know... I´m sure it´s not because there was something funny going on, but just because most people liked other songs more.

You can care more about the lyrics, but the thing is, eventhough the judges get those, translated and all, people around the world might hear it for the first time (like me) and it might not be in their language. If the performance is bad, that will influence those people, you can´t get around that. And they are voting too.

Also, most songs have the same few themes (love, peace, being/staying strong and ofcourse the copycats of the winning song of the last festival), so what makes one a better song?
The way it´s performed...

If I see a person put his soul in the song, even if I don´t understand one word, that´s the winner for me. Songs reach further than just words.
I think that´s why "screaming ladies" are favorites. Most people want to see emotion.

To be honest, I haven´t got a clue what his song was about, I was sort of trying not to listen because the singing was so bad. It was the same for the people around me and the friend I had on chat throughout the semi finals. And maybe the rest of the world did that too. There is no way they were going to massively vote for that. It´s logic that he didn´t get through.
It was probably just nerves though, and I feel for the guy.

Again, I didn´t listen to any song before the actual performance. Maybe you did and it has grown to you?

As for who´s to win: I wouldn´t be surprised if the Netherlands win. Pure on charisma.
I think Serbia is strong too.
I haven´t seen anything in advance, so there are still 5 countries I can´t say a thing about.

I don´t see Russia win. But hey, I`m rather new to this all.

Russia will win, I'm pretty certain. They'll no doubt win the televote because they actually benefit from political voting (Azerbaijan, Armenia, etc), and I think they'll do pretty good with the Juries. Australia could win with the Juries, but I'm not sure how well she'll do with televoting.

I hope Australia win though... I put £12.50 on them the other day when the odds were at 16.00, so that'd be £200. I also really, really, like the song. Much more than Russia's.

Netherlands could be a dark horse.

I think Russia. And I can see why. I like the song, my mother likes the song, ... I just don't like it so much that I want it to win. It would be better if they had won last year.

I want Australia to win. So I'll be voting for them. They have the highest chances of beating Russia.

And I'll give my second vote to Lithuania. Because their song is the one that I've been playing since the second semi final. And I know full well that they won't win, but I want to get them as high as possible.

I've really not kept pace with it at all this year, which is kinda nice because now I can go into the final having it all be new to me. I am happy with our song this year though, which is the first time in a long time. I think they duo are likeable and the song ticks a lot of Eurovision boxes; it's simple, it's catchy, it's got a key change and could be staged and lit really well. I think we could well come middle table this year, which is as close to winning as we can ever hope for.

I swear if Australia wins this it's gonna be the European equivalent of Trump becoming president. WE WERE ONLY IN THIS FOR A JOKE GUYS, COME ON.

Also if we end up having to co-host eurovision and put on asiavision next year as well we gon be broke as hell.
