Just watched the first episode of Altered Carbon, Netflix's new sci-fi detective mystery thing. 'Twas interesting enough to be sure, but or me personally it was held back slightly by leading man Joel Kinnaman because he, like Matt Damon before him, is just one of those actors that I instinctively find myself disliking for admittedly no rational reason. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way.

I'm gonna stick with it cause the sci-fi nonsense of it's world is intriguing to me and I want to see where they're going with this.

Surely it's more fun to watch together right? Unless one of the two of you starts getting ahead, or is René one of those people who has to ask incessant questions throughout :P

René is one of those people who aren't terribly interested in crime shows. :P

No? I know there are a metric fuck ton of them, so they all start to bleed together eventually, but a friend and I both find they make for excellent brain fodder, when you want to watch something, but you want something that doesn't require too much investment, like other shows. Major Crimes for example, NCIS etc
Brenden wrote:PopTart's question is more general, and the answer is that yes watching stuff together is nice, but then we both have to have synchronised free time, and it would further increase our backlog of content we each want to consume!

Yep! Yeah, I can see how having exactly the same taste would kind of act as an impediment to actually watching things in a reasonable time frame. I guess it's wise to have shows you both like seperately, if only to prevent that temptation to sneak watch stuff because you can't stand to wait for synchronicity to strike! I shall have to give Mindhunter a look, on the crime front.

Just found out Legion is coming back soon. The first season was one of the best things to come out of 2017 and these teasers for the 2nd look incredibly promising!

I really enjoyed Legion, not everyone liked it mind :( Not that everyone has too!

Another series thats coming backt o our screens soon (real soon!) that I am both excited and alittle bit apprehensive about: Westworld! I loved the 1st season, but I don't know what direction they are going to take it in this time around and it could easily be a complete lemon if done poorly. Sadly, I don't think Anthony Hopkins will be returning, which is a real shame as I love that guy.

WARNING: the following video contains spoilers for the first season of Westworld, so if your intending to watch it, but haven't done so yet, well, you've be warned. But Hopkins is worthy of having his bits set above the rest!

I'm very excited about Westworld as well, but indeed, they have one hell of an Anthony Hopkins-shaped hole to fill. I am hopeful though, if anyone can pull it off, it's the people behind this show.

I still don’t get this love for Legion. It really didn’t do much for me. It was way too psycho for no apparent reason. And if I remember correctly it was also a bit boring.

For me it's a combination of creatively translating the mental instability into the viewing experience, highly stylized 60's visuals, great camera and lighting work, cleverly avoiding superhero narrative clichés and phenomenal acting. Virtually no other show in the genre has ever ventured so deep into the artistic side of the medium.

Which, in turn, makes it understandable that it's not for everyone. :P

Your disapproval is a strong recommendation.

I don't mean that in a bitchy way. It's just that I've learned over the years that we have exactly opposite tastes in tv, film, music, and boys. It's very handy for finding new stuff.

The character is overflowing with clichéd macho bullshit, but the plot is very engrossing and the world is very well-realized.

Baskets and omg it's such a silly TV show. It has me in hysterics. Complete thigh slapper. It has Louis Anderson dressed in drag as Basket's mother and she steals the show. It also stars Zach Galifianakis--the dude from The Hangover.

The Good Place is one of the best comedies I've ever seen.

Also loving This Is Us.

And Silicon Valley of course.

And Westworld.

The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale is pretty good too.

The ending was kind of expected but...goofy. The ending for the penultimate episode was insane though. I also enjoyed the ending of the one where Carrie sees herself yelling at her and she screams and curls up into the fetal position.

Yeah but it was pretty satisfying when the VP grew a back bone, told the diplomat whats what, and told that idiot senator to get the fuck out of his office.
