Xbox or PlayStation?

Unread postby Stevieb0y » 11 April 2018, 17:38

You guessed it by the title and the subject causes heated debate.

I am really getting back into my gaming after a good 10 years without a console. Now after playing the death out of my friends consoles it’s time to buy one for myself and now seems a great time with so much choice. I keep reading all the reviews and still can’t make up my mind.

But what should I get? PS4/Pro or Xbox One S/ Xbox One X. 4K is not a priority. I love playing Call of Duty series and racing car sims mainly.

I’m kind of loyal to XBox, but only because I fell into that brand, I’m used to the controller and it’s what I know. I’m not the type who’ll say “PUH-LEASE.. I’m sorry but anyone who buys a PlayStation cannot call themselves a gamer, but if you want to enjoy 1 micro pixel less per m2 and a substandard unilateral quadrazangle be my guest”

I love how we’re keeping PCs out of the discussion as though they don’t matter. Fuck them gayming niggas!

I wouldn't get either. The best games have been for SNES and GBA.

I have not forgot about pc gaming. I have played on a maxed out PC and it may even be better than a console. However it just gets too expensive as an initial build and that’s why I have took that out of the mix.

I have always been an Xbox fan as I thought Microsoft had the edge with their PC knowledge. But the Playstaion has its pros too.

And yes Rene I spent many an hour in my youth playing NES and SNES (especially street fighter) . Good old days!

PS4 has the best exclusives of those two. Xbox has cross-play with some PC games since Microsoft supports both. I'd suggest buying whichever one your friends play, because playing with friends is a big reason for owning any gaming system.

For the record I own a PS4 I bought to play with my boyfriend, and a gaming laptop for Overwatch and Steam. The PS4 gets the most use.

I would say Xbox aswell, but mainly because I'm a brand loyalist.

Xbox = Microsoft and there is some rumours Microsoft are in talks for a buyout of Steam from Valve, which could drastically change the balance between Sony PS and MS Xbox.

As it stands, I tend to think that the Xbox lends itself better to multiplay and social gaming, Playstation, pulls ahead in the exclusive titles department, having some big name franchises as exclusive releases, usually jrpgs etc.

In terms of performance, they are pretty much on par, with one or the other posting slightly better or poorer performance, in any given area. The differences are largely only really noticeable if your hyperfocused and looking for them.

So as Subra said, if you want to play with others, then get a platform that friends have. If your looking to play specific console exclusives, get the console for those titles.

And if you find the games you play most are available on either platform, buy the one that is cheapest.

Xbox. I would get a One S if 4k isn’t as important.

I own all three generations of Xboxes and PS3 and PS2. I’ve also played with a PS4 before. There is no doubt between the two.

Xbox has a much better controller and in my opinion much better exclusives. Unless maybe you are into RPGs. Also multimedia capabilities of the Xbox for outmatch the PS4. Because it offers a good UHD Blu-ray player. Plus a decent network media player as well. All of which is missing on a PS4.

I know you said 'in my opinion', but the Xbox One is pretty infamous for lagging behind the PS4 in terms of the amount of qualitative exclusives (and much more so in sales :shifty: ).

Then again, seeing as the OP is mostly into CoD and racing sims, I'm not sure how much games like Horizon Zero Dawn would appeal to you. I would suggest looking at which other games you want to play before deciding.

It only needs Halo to be better than PS4. And Forza Motorsport. It teally depends on what kind of games you like. For me the only PS exclusive series that I like is Ratchet & Clank. Gran Tourismo on PS4 is a joke compared to the old versions.

Well none of those are games I'd play, so there's the answer.
