Anyone living in Asia as a married couple?
Is there anyone living in Asia legally? I know Taiwan has just legalised gay marriage recently but it's still a long way to go (sorry about my pessimism).
If you're out there in Asia, tell me how you are doing it?
I think it'll be the best 30th gift for my hubby, telling him "We'll move back to Asia!"
Thank you for reading it!

It's pretty shit in China. Some cities people are more comfortable with it than others. In Chengdu, my cousin lives with his gf but they can't get married so they just live together. I have folks on a gay app telling me that Im immature because I refuse to marry a chick just to please my parents. Luckily I'm an American citizen so I don't have to go through all that mess.

Hopenlife, please visit Thailand! I have have lived there for 1 year, still got a small apartment over there. Theres no other country that accepts gays/lesbians/bisexuals more than Thailand. There are streets full of gay bars, even a whole area called Silom. Nobody would do you wrong.
PS: Sorry, im not married. But I know the acceptance is really good.

Acceptance doesn't mean resignation; it means understanding that something is what it is and that there's got to be a way through it.

yes; Taiwan allows same sex marriage for a total of 20 or 30 countries.
Fair to say the term "Asia" is a totally generic term and a vast area.
would your interests be better served being legally married and live in an urban ethnic neighborhood in say the UK?
marriage gives you a tried and verified legal package of rights. It is possible to set this up in any country w/o being married. Set it up in the country where you maintain your banking, where you pay taxes or where you live.
A lawful marriage in a country like UK or Taiwan might be recognized by other countries, maybe former British colony?

Hello! Thanks for posting. I have been to Xiamen, China and it was spectacular and I am sure it still IS. Yeah, most Asian cultures are very family-oriented and I am thankful my whole family knows how gay I am after some runaway from home story and insistence. Surprisingly they have accepted me for who I am. Sorry if you call me sick as well, I was pre-exposed to the story of the LGBT+ people getting married with an opposite sex, so I became that desperate to have proposed to my husband (partner back then) to do so in Asia for him to live legally and permanently. The separation is painful.
Have you thought of coming out to your parents?

Thanks for the proposal. We have travelled to Thailand and at Pattaya beach. We rode the motorbike and went around like crazy (nothing illegal here). The experience of freedom was phenomenal. I find life in the UK is so constrained and restricted, of course for a good reason. Plus the weather here doesn't really help.

Thanks for the information. Our aim at the moment is sell our UK property and move to Taiwan when we retire. Not knowing whether it is achievable or not plus I think it's a boring and a too-late-to-enjoy-life plan. I think I should work in a corporation here with international branches and get transferred to Asia and allow my husband to move there with my work visa for spouse. Do you think it's feasible?

My parent's know that I'm gay. My dad is uneducated and extremely traditional chinese. My mom is chinese and fundamentalist christian. I grew up with my mom and it was the absolute worst. I ended up being suicidal because of what she put me through. I don't think you're sick. I would never think you're sick because you're attracted to the same sex or gender. I'm so glad that your parents accept you and I wish you nothing but the best.
