How can I make new friends?

Unread postby dynamicdoggo » 23 July 2019, 15:50

It’s not that I don’t have any, I just don’t feel fulfilled by them if that makes sense? My social life is below average, I’m out the house a few times and I do talk to people on social media etc. but ugh I can’t help but feel sooo bored :/ I just wanna chill, go around places, golf, fishing but none of my friends really want to do any of that.

I have a group at work but kinda feel uncomfortable around them? Like, they invite me out most of the time but I really don’t feel part of it, they have their own jokes etc. They are nice people and they really do ‘try’ with me but idk?

I got another group but I feel drugs is a big part of our friendship sometimes and honestly, I really don’t want that. My best mate is in that group but ugh I still feel really bored.

I just kinda want people who are my vibe but it’s so hard to do that on a gap year with barley any money :/

Guess we’re in the same boat then :/

Sometimes I think I’m just being but-picking details or my anxiety is taking over me and making me feel this way... idk uni is such a long wait for me.

Have you tried meetup.com? It's a social-meeting for people with similar interests. I've met people of the same interest there. I joined my local hiking/ jungle trekking group through that website. LGBT group is also featured there too (Perhaps a better option than Grindr?)

Grindr is pretty awful. Set up a profile as a joke (didn’t even have a picture or a bio) and urm, got some interesting messages

@dynamicdoggo

It is hard to make new friends nowadays because we're constantly distracted by social media. I'd imagine when we meet new friends and they might constantly look at their phone while sitting in front of us. At this rate, it's better off staying at home.

Like SteveIsNotMe said, meet up.com is a good app. But it only works well if you're in a city. There's really not many activities in a small town.

Hope you have a good day!

Meet Ups are a great way of networking with new people in the area you live.

There are all sorts of groups, covering a wide variety of interests/hobbies. People of all ages and all walks of life. I joined a meditation group for gay men in my city a couple of years ago, and attended several meet ups. Met some really interesting people and managed to pick up some meditation tips too :)
