Mark, Pete and I lived in the Coal Baron's dilapidated creepy mansion for seven years. It wasn't haunted in spite of the fact that the Coal Baron closed the mine and moved out of the mansion in the year 1917 after he found a severed human head in a package that was left on the front porch at his door step. Bloody times those were. Coal miners, scabs, strike breakers and the West Virginia National Guard all killing one another. Today in 2019 its an amazingly beautiful and peaceful place to live. The mansion is gone now. It got too dilapidated to live in. The roof was caving in. We all moved on. The company town is still there with people living in it.

This was in the pre-internet days, when dating relied on printed lists and returning replies in an envelope with 2 first class stamps!

I contacted this guy, I liked his description and things looked prormising. He invited me for the weekend - this entailed a drive from Milton Keynes to Sheffield.

As soon as he opened the door, I knew it was a mistake. He was nothing like his description, dumpy and unattractive. He only had a single bed and I spent a most uncomfortable night with little sleep. As soon as I could reasonably excuse myself the following day, I left.

Catfishing must have been a nightmare before the selfie days... Ugh!
