God can they just hurry up and call Pennsylvania so I can finally do something else without needing to constantly have one eye on this?

So... um... With regards to the transition: How's this going to go down? Marshals literally drag him out? Maybe he'll try to cut them a deal?

"Mr Trump, we're here to escort you from the White House".

"No. I'm not leaving. I don't know if you realise this, but actually, I won. Rather bigly, as a matter of fact".

"You must leave".

"Fine! I'm taking the desk, though".

"No. You cannot take the desk".

"I brought that painting with me, I'm taking that".

"No, you did not bring that painting. It is not yours to take".

"Fine! I'm taking this paperweight, though".

"Okay, Mr. Trump, you can have the paperweight".

"Deal! Suckers".
Mad wi' it

The only thing I've unambiguously enjoyed about this week is how much no one cares about his bullshit. These last four years I haven't known how seriously to take him, but it turns out very few people are committed to overtly breaking the law on his behalf. Don't get me wrong, he could've pulled something if he actually had a plan in place, but given that all he's done is deploy Giuliani, his mind evidently just isn't in the game.

I don't think he'll put up a fight. It would make him look pathetic, and that's the only thing he really cares about.

Everyone is so distracted they’re not talking about the reports that Putin is allegedly resigning due to Parkinson’s. I’m sure the Russian govt says otherwise but this what’s being reported.

Also, record 121,504 new Covid cases in one day in the US, breaking the record of just under 100,000 set just 6 days earlier.

That news came from the UK tabloid The Sun. You know. The ones responsible for such covers like this...

Wait, you mean you all thought he was some manner of political mastermind?

That he has ever been anything but the incredibly narcissistic, over grown man child that has never been told no and had to accept it, because, money?

I guess that explains why some Americans have been so vehement about the risk he poses to democracy, beyond the manner in which he now undermines democracy via vote doubt and his capacity to divide opinion, you have all been operating on the fear he is secretly a magnificent bastard with a cunning plan??? :monocle:

As to the length of time for a vote count, there is something to be said for a hasty count. Any time the democratic voting process takes any length of time, it opens the door to doubt, regarding the veracity of said process.

I know American states have alot of votes to count, but they should do everything they can, to make that count happen sooner. Less chance of suspicion that way.

I prefer the way we do it, with votes being in the next day. Less room for shenanigans, greater trust in the result.

 oh The Sun, gotta love that paper and sometimes bizarre headlines it produces. and by love I mean, don't take too seriously as you chuckle.

That said, this would explain why Russian MP's are currently debating legislation that would grant former presidents legal immunity from prosecution :runaway:

The thing is, you don't have to be a mastermind to subvert democracy. Like, Duterte isn't a secret genius. Bolsonaro probably needs an aide to buckle his belts for him. The only things you really need are a horde of hooting chuds, and the love of the game. When it comes down to it, I don't think Trump really wants to be president all that much.

No, ofcourse not, but as I alluded to previously and as is touched upon in the linked article I posted a couple of pages back, democracy is being subverted in a lot of ways and from alot of different directions, Trump, is, once again a symptom of the times and not the instigator of them.

You may lance the boil, but the infection will return.

Speculation at present, but compelling speculation.

And you aren't a simpleton, you just don't follow some things with the same vigour and interest as you might, others.

Of all the things Melania will be doing now that she has to move back to New York in January, divorcing Donald is not one of them. You know they’re already sleeping in separate beds. She’s not concerned about finding a soul mate, clearly. There’s nothing in it for her going out alone. She’s married to a PR magnet, and one that allows her to always appear to be the grounded and sensible one. A few more years married to Donald and she’ll be running for Mayor of New York City.

Look just let me play out my fantasy of this humiliation conga for Trump continuing, okay? He's already got Covid, he's just lost his job and in a couple months he's going to evicted. His wife divorcing him and taking his son away is just the logical next step, followed by a stint of alcoholism and then suicide.
