After all his lawsuits get thrown out, what‘a next for Fat Donny? Coup attempt? Tantrum and early resignation?
Blow: "Nowadays even Liam can release an album of his screechy vocals and it'll probably go #1..."
Ramzus: I can admit that I'm horny just about 24/7
homomorphism: I used to not think your name was deshay and that Erick was just being racist
Hunter: sometimes I think I was literally born to be a pornstar

I'm starting to think Trump might see himself like some kind of Frank Underwood from House of Cards and his whole plan is just to create enough noise, chaos and uncertainty that enough states refuse to certify their results that it gets thrown to Congress to vote to settle the election.

The downside for him of that plan is that Frank Underwood is a very smart character in a fictional TV show, whereas Donald Trump is a very dumb person in real life.

I want a Louis-Seize-style flight to Varennes; he gets hauled back to the capital, and we get to find out what's up with his accounts at Deutsche Bank.

I have heard speculation that there might be early resignation, with a full pardon from Pence.

My thought, though: he'll serve out his full term. But he'll talk a lot about rigged elections, fake results, whatever.

Commentators have indicated there are rumors that he's considering running 2024. And there are rumors that he might start a media venture.

He's apparently making some hateful noises about running in 2024 so I doubt he'd want to risk being seen as a coward by resigning early, it's better for his hideous stupid brand if he stays right until the end rage-tweeting like a spiteful motherfucker the whole way.

It's not a question of whether he'll "resign early". He's in until January. We don't just go two months without a president, as nice as that sounds.

I think he's content in his current position. He can't concede because he's psychologically incapable of it, but I truly don't believe he ever wanted to be president. He'll spend the rest of his life insisting that he won the election and that America wouldn't be in it's current-future state if he hadn't been robbed.

Going logic on the early resignation is he'll resign just so Mike Pence can become President for like a month just so he can pardon Trump for anything he would get investigated for once he's out of office and his immunity from prosecution is gone.

But that scenario relies on Trump being able to even realise he's guilty of something in the first place and given his pathological refusal to accept losing an election I don't see how anyone thinks he'd have the self-awareness necessary to realise he'd even need a pardon if he did something illegal while in office.

I'm certain Trump could see the advantage in being pardoned of a crime that he doesn't believe he committed. Still, he won't, because that would be dumb. Nothing is going to happen to him on the federal level, except maybe tax evasion.

I've heard that before. And that a motive for running was that it would be good for his image and business ventures. I do think he probably likes aspects of being president--like all the attention he gets.

He'll spend the rest of his life insisting that he won the election and that America wouldn't be in it's current-future state if he hadn't been robbed.

Very likely.

Another thought...I remember on another forum someone was convinced back in 2016 that Trump would resign early. I can't remember if the argument was partly "Trump really didn't want to be president." I do think part of the argument was that he'd probably lose interest. Of course, the theoretical resignation would have been set to make Trump look good. Possibly something along the lines of: "I've done it! I've made America Great Again!"

My feeling is he didn't really expect to be President and never really had any interest in the actual 'job' part of the job but as he campaigned more and especially when he won he just got addicted to the ludicrous amounts of attention and fanatical loyalty that it brought him and like a druggie he can't even fathom willingly giving up that high of having millions of people constantly tuning in to everything he says and millions of loud arseholes worshipping the ground he walks on for no other reason that because he's Donald Trump.

That shit's bound to give someone who's already a total egomaniac a literal messiah complex so no wonder he's not about to even think about stepping away from it until he's literally forced to.

Wouldn't have to be a month, even. For that matter, I wonder if even a resignation/pardon early on the day Biden takes office wouldn't work.

It would be interesting if Trump resigned early on inauguration day. Then the president elect takes office, but immeidately resigns for whatever reason (maybe can't deal with having to leave his basement and move to the White House?) We could have a history making moment of three [Edit: four] presidents on one day.

I'd agree. Let's be honest: we've seen that already with how the impeachment worked. They could have chosen better grounds, but they didn't.

And let's be honest: establishment Democrats probably want Trump to stay around. That way, they can continue being nothing but the party of "we aren't Trump!"

That'd be four Presidents in one day. Cause if Trump resigns early, even on the same day Biden is due to be sworn in, they can't just swear Biden in early because the date and time of the start of the new President's term is specifically laid out in the US Constitution.

So you could start the day with Trump as the 45th President, as he is. In the morning before Biden is due to be sworn in at noon Trump resigns, making Mike Pence the 46th President for the duration of that morning. Then Biden gets sworn in as the 47th President at midday. If he then immediately resigns or keels over for whatever reason before the end of the day Kamala Harris gets sworn in as the 48th President of the United States.

Because if politics is going to be batshit, what's the point in half-arsing it? There's a reason I had a bet on the election ending in a 269-269 electoral college tie.
