2020 US Presidential Election | Primaries | nEw PolL
Re: 2020 US Presidential Election | Primaries | nEw PolL
I hate to be petty about regnal numbers but at the same time who am I kidding no I don't: Louis XVI.
More importantly, even if you want to argue that both nonvoting and regicide are rooted in alienation and disaffection, don't you see an important difference between the two? To me, the former has an unavoidable passivity; sure, you're not buying into the existing political order, but you're also not directly undermining it. The latter, meanwhile, is of course active overthrow of the powers that be—it is disaffection collectively channeled to effect change rather than sequestered on the level of the individual and squandered.

This argument is on the previous page now and I no longer remember what it was about. The point is I'm voting for Jesse Ventura and you should too.

Fortune can be cruel. I felt the precariousness of my position as soon as I saw the fresh page.
Ventura 2020.

Has Jesse Ventura even entered the race officially yet?
I remember when he was elected governor of MN. I can't remember for sure, but I think it's possible I was happy seeing someone outside the Democrat/Republican duopoly win a major office. Although I have no idea how well things worked when he was in office. Although at this point, I think anyone would have to be an improvement over Trump and Biden.
It will be interesting to see what happens with 3rd party/independents this year...
I've been interested in how the Democratic faithful have been foaming at the mouth about Justin Amash possibly running. It seemed weird, since he'd be theoretically too conservative to attract possible Democratic voters. But as at least one progressive commentator pointed out, he might pose a threat for some of the suburban votes the Democrats currently love chasing.
I voted "maybe" vote Biden on this poll when it appeared...but since that time, that maybe has gotten less and less and less likely. I do suppose he's arguably "not as bad as Trump". But the more stuff that I hear about his past record, not to mention Tara Reade's allegations, the less I like Biden.

Then...I noticed Hillary has unfortunately emerged from under her rock to endorse Joe Biden. My thought: the "electable" establishment Democrat who lost 2016 endorses the "electable" establishment Democrat who likely will lose the 2020 election. The election loser of 2004 has long been fully supportive of Biden.
It's amazing, actually, how terrible the Republican candidates were in 2004, 2016, and 2020--and yet the Democrats still manage to come up with someone who either lost, or seems likely to lose.
Of course, we know it's all the fault of those of us on the left who don't kiss Democrat ass on command. It's never an issue of selecting a shitty candidate! And it's the fault of Jill Stein. And Russia. And Russia. And Russia. Maybe the one good thing if Biden wins: I won't have to listen to conspiracy theories about Russian influence non-stop for the next 4 years.

Joe Biden says he‘s going to defeat Joe Biden.
Nope, not senile at all! Perfectly normal! Completely lucid!

Well, despite that Biden moment, there is real truth that Biden very likely could cause a Biden loss. There is the way his current condition appears. Then his long record of supporting shitty trade deals, like NAFTA--which I can see the Trump campaign using to get support at least in Rust Belt states--and Iraq.

Of course, it's important to keep in mind that Biden meets the most important criteria for many in Democratic Party: keep Sanders far away from the White House, which they'd see as worse--far worse--than 4 more years of Trump.

I hope Biden wins. Trump is too extreme. There is his links with Putin, and his reaction to the race riots, which seem extreme.

How has he been extreme? Looting and vandalism are not okay. Small business owners have lost a lot and the taxpayers will just have to give away more of their income to cover it. It's just an excuse for leftist zoomers to get free shit and break shit. I'm never voting Democratic again. I'm tired of their inane policies and money squandering.
I'm not seeing really any accountability for the looting and vandalism, so what's this "extreme" you're talking about?

Imagine demanding "accountability" from a leaderless, oppressed class lashing out in an angry, spontaneous response to decades of abuse.

What oppression? Ben Shapiro already explained how there’s no systemic racism.
Facts don’t care about your feelings, Derek.

He's like listening to a blender. People who insist on being public figures really ought to have better voices.

How is stealing shit and burning down little business solving anything? These cities continually elect incompetent and corrupt Democratic mayors year after year, and still don't get that they're more interested to serving globalist interests than improving the country. The quality of life in the country continues to decline, and people still think we're not leftist and globalist enough.

It's not meant to solve anything. Riots are just a thing that happens when you keep your boot on people's necks for too long. If you're expecting a coherent political agenda, your perspective is hopelessly blinkered.

Repeating the word "globalist", taken in conjunction with my memory of you making the insane claim that immigration was at an "all-time high", is a red flag and a half.
I think you're right, though, that democrats are useless and have mostly failed to improve the country. But the fact that you apparently see democrats, leftism, and globalism as the same thing underscores how benighted this country's politics really are.

Democrats aren't the only ones who push globalism, but they're currently the most enthusiastic about it. Immigration, legal and illegal, does change the culture of countries over time, but for some reason, westerners are just supposed to embrace it because it's beneficial to the elites -- and a heterogeneous nation is much less likely to stand up to them. I don't see many people criticizing countries like Japan and South Korea for wanting to preserve their homogeneous cultures and rich heritage, and their stringent immigration policies. Honestly, America will just continue to devolve into anarcho-tyranny and corporatism/globalism and everyone will continue to become unhappier as the years go by and wonder why.
The continued decay of the family has only accelerated it, where people now look to the state to be their guardian and provider, which those in power love. Corporate consumption and vices are used to fill the void in their lives, since strong, stable relationships are now passe. Honestly, I wish the country could just split in two, with a left and right side. I don't see the situation improving organically.

I think it would be hilarious if that split occurred and you went off to live in the side that would execute you by pressing as soon as they learned you were gay.
Also enjoying the seamless jump from talking about the protests to blood-and-soil nationalism. What's the link, I wonder? Hmm...
