US Elects first Transgender Rep

Unread postby Ben. » 8 November 2017, 09:08

Danica Roem has unseated Virgina's "chief homophobe", Republican Robert G. Marshall, the incumbent for 25 years, with a 54% vote. Never heard of a House of Delegates but well done America. That's progress.

State representative. I'm pretty sure she's not the first trans person elected to state legislature, though I imagine she's the first in Virginia.

I've read she's the first to be elected while out, but don't know the veracity of that.

Yay - I saw that freaking Caitlyn posted about this on twitter. There's no republicans in foxholes only they ultimately go progressive and not to heaven.

I'm surprised given all the conservative backlash shit going on in Murica right now, but eh kudos, nice to hear something progressive among it all.
