Will UK abandon EU?

Unread postby Bro » 24 April 2015, 17:06

So, with elections coming very soon and there will be changes and stuff, but will UK remain in EU or abandon EU?

If you want UK to leave, why?

It depends entirely on who wins.

I feel like this question comes up once a year in regards to the UK. And never in regards to any other EU country. At this point I feel the EU would be better off without the UK, mainly because the UK just keeps going against the grain on every-single-issue and the whole thing is tiring.

Realistically it seems like a 50/50 issue. Anything could happen.

I'd imagine it's the most likely outcome, what with how much so many people in the UK right now seem to think the EU is some evil dictator that rules us with an iron fist.

If UKIP have their way, we'll bail out as soon as possible. If the Tories or the Greens have their way, it'll get put to a referendum vote and probably pass that way. If Labour or the Lib Dems get their way, we'll probably stick around and maybe stop being such total pricks about the entire endeavour.

I hope we don't leave. I don't like giving other people in Europe the impression that we feel like we're different to them in every single way. I think it's the wrong impression to give out.
Don't think about doing it tomorrow. You won't do it tomorrow. Do it today.

True. I'm quite fond of Europe and frankly if the UK could be more like some other European countries we'd be all the better for it.

The argument against such a thing is that we need to maintain the nebulous and ill-defined British culture but as far as I can tell that seems to be defined by the people who say it as crappy food, old-world conservatism and casual xenophobia.

I'm in no hurry to preserve any of those things.

It doesn't though. It's just that the morons that do go against the grain on everything are outspoken.

Britain will leave. Every day in this stinking institution pushes us further out.

Probably not, none of the parties have the balls to do it.
