Either form is costly to society. Perplexed as to why people do it really. I think it should be criminalised.

Re: Bug Chasing
I was really chuffed when a really cute guy started chatting me up once, then he dropped the "I want to catch diseases" bombshell and I was like
I do not understand the desire to catch diseases.

I do not understand the desire to catch diseases.

Neither do I, it's quite a weird deviancy, to me

I used to collect ladybirds and try and feed them to caterpillars in a plastic Chinese food carton if that counts? they used to die before they eat each other because I forgot to make way for breathing holes.

I don't quite get it. I am afraid to contract hiv, yet it was a risk I took to have sex with people I didn't really know. I wore protection, but it has actually failed once or twice leading to some really scary situations. One of my biggest scares was almost having unprotected sex with a very close friend who I had known for a very long time. Very glad I didn't because it turns out he developed a habit of having unprotected sex and found out he had hiv later that season.
Maybe it is a way for them to face the fear of hiv by getting the virus. Once they have it, it is no longer something to fear. Medications make it so that it's not really a death sentence anymore. Having hiv means no longer having to worry about getting it, kind of. Maybe bug chasers think of contracting hiv as a sort of freedom to pursue true sexual abandon with many different sex partners. It sounds kind of nice, except for the hiv part.
I think it is wrong. Spreading this disease is what's causing it to persevere. It's selfish and irresponsible to let hiv grow in society.

You monster!

Don't think about doing it tomorrow. You won't do it tomorrow. Do it today.

Re: Bug Chasing
I've never met anyone who wants to catch HIV but I'm sure like anything there could be an incredibly small community that is into this.
On a sort of related note, I read a "Today I Fucked Up" by having a biohazard tattoo. A biohazard tattoo usually is someone owning the disease and wearing it on their sleeve. As in "my blood is poison and I'm going to get tattoo to tell everyone". So anyone, this guy got a biohazard tattoo bc he was with his friend who was getting a tattoo and wanted one too. He got the idea of a biohazard symbol when he saw the red container where needles were disposed of in the shop. So fast forward 10 or 15 years and the guy finally finds out the meaning behind his tattoo and slowly remembers all these strange encounters he's had with other men at the gym and beach that he couldn't ever really explain.
Anyway, I'm sure chasers use the biohazard tattoo to find potential mates, but it doesn't mean those that have it are all chasers.
Also EDIT: Bug chasing is really dangerous bc once you have HIV you can still be exposed to more aggressive strains which can probably effect your viral load, so use protection even of you are poz.

^^^ that reminds me one of my friends is a straight guy and has one of those biohazard tattoos. I guarantee he has no idea what it means...
OT: I dont really see why people would want to infect themselves with life threatening diseases. There are easier ways to destroy yourself if that's what you're trying to do.

Personally, I'm all in favor of Darwin Award participants.

Ramzus: I can admit that I'm horny just about 24/7
homomorphism: I used to not think your name was deshay and that Erick was just being racist

Re: Bug Chasing
In a way I feel like it's their way of 'marking' who he's been with. Like he can go around and say, "Yeah, I totally gave that bitch my HIV! My HIV baby now!"
It's pretty sickening. One guy tried to infect me - breaking condoms - but luckily I only came out with chlamydia. The problem is people don't treat HIV as being as serious as it is because the medications make life almost as full as if you never had the illness. That's if these people are devoted enough to take the 3+ capsules daily and get regular blood tests (monthly I think) and visit a specialist regularly. There is a lot of work to handle it, and I fail to see how not wearing a condom during sex during casual sex is so much more valuable than your own health (and wallet).

That's part of the reason, I think. My theory is that gift givers are trying to make sense of this horrible thing that's happened to them, so in lieu of an ego collapse they rationalize it into this power play. They didn't have control over being infected, but they do have the power to pass it on.
Meanwhile, bug chasers just seem to me like masochists who are looking to be punished.
Either way, the whole thing is fucked up and needs to be stopped.

WHAT??? I'd be pisssedddd.
I had an ex who poked holes in all my condoms. I'm not really a bottom so I'm not sure what he thought he was accomplishing; neither of us had diseases. He ended up telling me the next day though because I guess he felt bad. Ever since then tho I always check the condom packaging to make sure it hasn't been punctured.

I always figured if I wanted to off myself I'd find a tall building near a busy intersection, jump off and splatter myself all over the street so a bunch of people have a huge mess to clean up.

When I die I want to be blown up by dynamite. It can either be my cause of death or happen after I die but I want to be blown up with dynamite. I just want to go out with a bang! (Not hurt anyone though, I am not a terrorist, I love America.)
