Did you ever work at a gay bathhouse

Unread postby SweetBoy2312 » 24 February 2019, 12:30

I'm thinking about working at one temporarily just for the experience. I would be at the front desk and check in everyone who is coming in. I know I would actually like working there. But it's really SHADY...the manager seemed like he was on drugs when I talked to him on the phone. He told me to call him when I can start working right away...because he called me while I was still doing my two weeks notice at old job. That's really different...I never talked to a manager that requested me to start working right away.
And of course he is really bitchy..and the staff there are generally very bitchy. But I like how they still say please and thank you after a bitchy rant. :D

So has anyone worked at one before? What was it like? Basically getting to meet a lot of guys is the attraction for me. It's pretty huge...bar/club/hotel/spa all in one building.

I'd be wary of your boss, but if you want to work there go right on ahead :)

Just be careful and make sure you know your rights at work.

Honestly, it seems like it could be the beginning of a really bad journey through life.

I mean, it's a job like any other. I wouldn't mind it. The guys from the bathhouse I've gone to a couple times are really nice. Front desk jobs don't really pay well here, so my biggest problem with the job would be the salary, not the location.

This is so well said, you made me chuckle.

OP if you want to meet lots of guys, go to gay bars and nightclubs. Bathhouses are full of drug-fuelled sex maniacs who use other drug-fuelled maniacs like fleshlights, do you really want them to be your main circle of relationships?

Depends on what you do there while working though. It's not a requirement to befriend the clients...

My friend worked at a "gay hotel" in Florida for a really short period and he said that there was a lot of sex in the hot tubs and meth. Hot tub + Meth sounds like a recipe for a heart attack if you're not in great shape.

I'm inclined to say that I think location matters here a bit. Then again, this is coming from the guy who is used to a very different "bathhouse" (onsen)... my first and only time going to one in America I was pretty shocked. Anywho, the reason I'm writing is that Eryx has a good point in that you don't have to befriend clients; I'd actually argue against it.

Would you be concerned putting in your employment history for future jobs that you past worked in a gay sauna? Maybe it doesn't matter and employers wouldn't care, but maybe they would also be judgemental about it. I don't know, but maybe its worth thinking about.

I wouldn't. Like Subra said, it's a lot of really sketchy dangerous sexual behavior and not a good way to meet guys, and also doesn't seem like a good job due to the boss being weird. I don't see any up-side to that.

In case it was not appearent, I get that. I'd also not think all circumstances are equal. Nor opinions, experiences, etc.

So ok, can you imagine one of the compulsive, erratic, etc (you know, like me XD), without self control (maybe I'm delusional thinking I have any) working at a gay sauna? That's really more to my point!

Who's to say OP doesn't have a different self-control level?

I really do. I've been to bathhouses maybe 10 times overall. I never hooked up even though I was pressured to. Having sex with strangers is just not my thing. I just like the environment. I like a building full of naked gay guys. I'll definitely look. I've met guys there before who just chatted with me and wanted to be friends. My weakness are pretty twinks, though. If a twink came on to me I'd prob hook up.
