Getting Older and Affecting Erections

Unread postby CTBriGuy » 4 July 2021, 03:21

I don't know if any other guys (over 50) on here are having the same problems as I do, but it's been several years since I've been with anyone sexually. Yea, I get horny just as any other man, but I'm not a slut and prefer getting to know someone first before sex happens. I have to like the guy first! In the meantime through these past several years, my sex drive has decreased.. and so has my erections. They just aren't as strong as they used to be, and orgasms have changed too. They just don't have that intensity anymore. So I watch porn to help motivate me, and that becomes short-lived. The drive just isn't there, and it's probably because the sex isn't either. And the older you get, the less desired you are. This doesn't help anyone's sex drive! I really don't think it's a medical thing. I believe it's just a lack of sex. But meeting guys is very challenging nowadays because they just want to hook up. I don't work like that! Please share your thoughts..and please don't be insensitive. Compassion and understanding go a long way! Thanks guys!

Briguy— welcome to the forum. Aging is a fact of life; what else are you gonna do? There are a whole slew of physiological, psychological, and social changes which impact our love/sex lives as we age. At 57, I can relate.

I expect you have read much of what the internet has to offer about erections and libido after 50: keep your weight down, exercise regularly, avoid or eliminate caffeine and alcohol, don't smoke, etc. As with so many things, this is also subject to our random draw of inherited chromosomes. Most guys will experience at least some degree of erectile dysfunction by the time they are 50, and the percentage increases steadily above that age. (So get it in while you can, both literally and figuratively. My advice to the younger guys.)

It's hard to give any meaningful advice in your situation. Meeting guys for friendships and more depends on where you live, the social scene there, and your personality. Even online dating and hookup apps have some potential, but are probably a bit of a needle and haystack proposition. In any case, good luck. I hope there is another guy nearby looking for the same thing who you just haven't met yet.

Welcome to the forum. There actually might be a simple explanation - have you had your hormone levels checked recently? Our bodies do produce lower amounts of hormones as we age and this can affect both libido and erection though I'm honestly not up on all the nuts and bolts. I know one of the contributors to https://www.excelmale.com/ and know they regularly offer suggestions for dealing with lower testosterone levels and discuss the various options to increase it. I've been on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) for a few years now - it's not my favorite thing, but it helps.

I'm seeing a man who is 53, he is a top. He's been taking something to increase his testosterone levels. He needs sex more often than I do, I struggle to keep up.. I'm 19 a bottom.
