Movie

Unread postby Allen » 26 July 2021, 07:40

I watched a movie where a man writes a letter to someone he loves and it contained beautiful Shakespeare’s sonnet 116 - “If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ nor no man ever loved “ Can someone please help in recalling the name of that movie?

I hope this doesn't violate a link policy I've missed, but I don't believe there is anything pornographic in the videos linked (though I haven't sat through them all to make certain).

Anyway, I have found this page Shakespeare sonnets that have appeared in movies for you and if you scroll down under Sonnet 116 it has two clips but neither includes your quotation. Are either of these movies what you are trying to find? If not, let me know and I can ask on a movie forum - there we can usually track down just about anything movie related.

It also appears - your quote - in an episode of LA Law: Where There's a Will. Go to https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0624160/ch ... /nm0002058 and hit ctrl+f (chrome hotkey on PC, not sure the shortcut on Mac, but basically you want to "find in page") and enter "proved" in the search box and it will take you to the quote.

I would say most likely one of these four movies;

Crimson Tide
The Hunt for Red October
K-19: The Widowmaker
U-571

No :( in that movie while one man reads the letter he received, the other man enters and finishes the last sentence to his surprise. Sooo romantic 🥰 i just wish i could remember the name . And the music is also too good in that scene.. just perfect

You’re quite sure that you’re not thinking of the scene in The Hunt for Red October when Marko Ramius writes to Yuri Padorin and announces his intention to defect?

okay, someone suggested To the Marriage of True Minds (2010) in response to my asking about Sonnet 116. I'm not certain that's the right movie, but thought I'd share. I'll see if I can locate it online later in the day.
