Sexuality from a cross cultural perspective.

Hey everyone,
Hope all are doing well on here.
I’m currently taking a human sexuality course, and I have created a survey to gain some insight on a few things. We were given the option to investigate any topic we wanted to and for me, growing up with my best friend from grade school very closely who came out to her mom when we were freshman in high school about being lesbian and seeing her mom struggle with accepting it made me want to know how others experienced coming out to their families. For my best friend, it was hard on her because as she finally got the courage to tell her mom, her mom just accused her of “going through a phase”. Back to school shopping was hard because she wanted to wear more masculine clothing and her mom was not supportive of it at all and would not buy her the clothing she felt comfortable in. She felt relieved that she put her sexuality out on the table for her family, but having your true feelings be rejected after it took a lot to just say the words out loud definitely took a toll on her. Now, all is well and her and her mom have a better relationship but I know some users on here may be younger and afraid to come out. To anyone who may feel uneasy about it, I truly hope that whether you decide to come out or not, that you live your days happy, with love, and peace.
