"Partner with marriage certificate" is the most convoluted way of writing "married" I've ever seen hahahah

Yeah, I'd like to get married at some point. But not because of loneliness, just because it's something I want to experience in life.

I don’t feel the need for anyone in my personal life to be in possession of any certificates whatsoever.

I'd like that, but I'm not sure how I'd go about it. You?

No. You love someone or not. You freely stay with that person or not. There is not a certificate in the world that has any influence on true love. I do not want to get married, ever.

What if your true love is someone from a different country and the only way to be together, immigration wise, is to get married?

I have been 'dream-scaping' of this, since I was a little boy. All but pipe dreams and illusions though, the willing Mr. never showed up, and now I'm old-er-ish and ill, so my cute young pirate won't ever show up, and I don't have their wanted qualities.

Of course having been alone all my life and just falling for heterosexuals back, when I still did, tends to make me sad. They always say, gays would meet an average of about 2000 hook ups during a lifetime. Well, not everyone does, not everyone can follow that scheme even. Living with being alone can be the sad part hidden away, because other people like to enjoy life and they like to laugh and have joy.
So rather hide the sadness, nobody wants it, nobody needs it.

Make people laugh,. if you can. Being alone and that doesn't help others.

Oh, marriage certificates, aye, wanted them to be written in old Mordor black speech. Something about Gear, treasures, sails and leathers, probably. :D

I am pretty sure that through a lawyer you can find other ways than marriage.
My statement is that marriage is no proof of love.
Also, talking about me. Already got my true love.

Yeah this has always bugged me too. And like, the logic doesn't even follow, really -- sure, the certificate doesn't have any influence on being in love, but so what? Getting the certificate doesn't diminish that either.

Yeah, but...how else are we supposed to annoy pompous married couples?

Also, welcome back. :3

Well, I argue that. Often married people seem to "let go", feeling they have the other bound to them through law anyway so they do not need to do anything to keep the love going.

But hey, if someone has romantic ideas about marriage and it is a fantasy come true, that is fine with me. I just do not see any need.

I think in some countries it's a necessity if they want to adopt children. For married people only. Over here, marriage 'light', also called a life partnership, will do. This used to be the form, before marriage even became possible to same sex couples October 1st, 2017. They said it were some 30 000 gay marriages since that day. Dunno, how many got divorced, though. It's also a job opportunity for divorce lawyers, I guess. Making jobs is always welcome.

Also can be a welcome choice if one wants to move out of one of those countries that have death penalty for being gay, or you'll get imprisoned if you're caught hugging a guy, talking to one in a way that seems overly close to religion police and that like.

Romantics, oh yeah. That could have been ever sweet. Woodland Camouflage Chariot, I think they call it a Stryker mobile gun system ...uhm ...and both dressed in full combat Gear for wedding dress. I would sugar him with that old McAllen Whiskey I once found. If he likes such. Hope it doesn't go bad after that time. Almond cream tea would be kewl, too. Or maybe, surfing together at Ninety mile beach and go snowboarding in the afternoon, south island not far, carving a  on the slopes ... aah fantasy and pipe dreams over again  He doesn't exist anywhere, he married some woman likely.

You can always adopt as a single person.

I do not see how marriage can help you to get out of a country, it can only help you to stay in a country that you already have entered as far as I know, but there are other ways to get a permit.

A lot want to get married just because they could not before and can now.

There are a hundred reasons why people want to get married, but non of them I find valid for me.
I do not know why I keep reading this thread. I made my point.
Sorry.

Implying Declaring many of them to smugly rub their marriage in your face like they’re better than you for it. It’s sort of like r/childfree but with legs.

I am pretty sure that through a lawyer you can find other ways than marriage.

The alternative generally involves having to fork over thousands of dollars in visa application fees and comes with massive uncertainty as (further) visas can always be denied, with no refund given even, after which you suddenly have to leave the country or face deportation.

To give just one example, being married to a citizen of the European Union gives you the automatic right to move to the EU together, work there and in most ways be treated like a citizen of the member state you settle in. Without having a recognised legal partnership, this is generally either very difficult and expensive or even impossible.
