I’m still traumatised by the initial experience (I’m still having flashbacks, and I’m so scared, perhaps irrationally so, that it’s going to happen again), but also very appreciative and thankful.

Now he’s home, sleeping next to him is also stressful, and I’m not getting much sleep tonight. I keep worrying about every little thing that doesn’t seem normal, like his breathing patterns or swallowing sounds.
I keep feeling so scared that I’m going to lose him. I was already worried about it for the last year since his father died, the first person in my life not to die of old age. Now this experience just has seemed to crystallise the anxiety even more.

René wrote:I'm so happy with the health service here in Scotland! No messing around with insurers or other private companies that want to make a profit off your illness, no bills, co-pays or deductibles; the hospitals are owned and run by the government, with all costs (including for medications) coming out of progressive central taxation (at the low end of which the tax rate is 0%), and ultimately the cost per capita is significantly lower than in other developed countries, while everyone is covered.
There's no country I'd rather fall ill in (or pay taxes and fund public services in) than Scotland.
