Do you have any unique natural skills nobody trained you for?

While waiting for the subway train and hearing it coming from a few miles away, that made me wonder if there are others like me who can do things not many other can. At least no one other that I know of anyway.
For instance when the subway station is really quiet (so quiet you can hear a mosquito farting :P ), I can hear the train when it's 15 minutes away and I can tell if it's accelerating, moving on its own inertia or slowing down.
Another thing I can do is detecting some weak quakes between 2 and 4 on the Richter scale that usually only the machine can detect. I can feel the vibrations of these tremors long before you can see their effects on the appliances, like your monitor or the lamp on the ceiling which shakes just barely.
So, do you have any unique natural skills nobody trained you for? Like being able read the license plate of a vehicle from 20 miles distance? :)

I can barely read a license plate from 20 metres, let alone 20 miles!

No I don’t think I have any unique skills or even party tricks.

I think you’ve just basically told us you’re Daredevil.

IDK what a daredevil is. But for as long you see me as a devil and not as anything that lives in the clouds, I'm OK with that. :D

I can't read a plate from 6 meters, let alone 20 meters. That's the result of a genetic diabetes that came from my father. Unlike the hearing ability, the skill to detect some of the weakest quakes has been useful a few times in the last 6 or 7 years.

I guess you're not a Marvel fan?

I am but not of everything Marvel. I like "Thor", Natasha Romanoff  , "Iron Man", "Hulk" and I'm currently waiting for the stories (before joining "The Avengers") of Natasha Romanoff and Hawkeye. I also like "Agents of SHIELD" until season 5. After that it became too... weird. And that's about all of Marvel I like.

I'm abnormally good at learning new languages, but it's not special enough that people take note. I just do well without doing much homework or studying. Love it lol

I've got pretty fast reaction times. Not being a person known to get into fights, the only time this seems to come into play is in video games. FPS's are super easy. I don't like FPS's, though, so my incredibly minor power is also incredibly pointless. I imagine it would have been useful had we still be running away from sabre tooth tigers, but as it stands, I want a refund.

That's cool. Were you bilingual (or more) as a child? I hear that makes it quite a bit easier to learn new languages in adulthood.

I'm so jealous, hahaha.

I've only shown aptitude for Dutch and English (which both somehow seem to be pretty flawless despite lack of any serious study) while all attempts at learning French, German, Spanish, Latin, Ancient Greek and Japanese (one at a time, with a fair bit of dedication when it comes to French and Japanese as well as secondary-school education in French (~3 years), German (~3 years), Spanish (1 year), Latin (1 year) and Ancient Greek (1 year)) have had what we shall generously call mediocre results.

I had a hard time with French at first too, pronunciation is crazy yo. But it got better with time.

@Magic J, I already had informal Spanish growing up, just by picking up random words (and basic Spanish at school), and I started learning English when I was 9. Then my English improved ten-fold because I went to Colorado at 15.

I think that might have helped me, as teenagers usually absorb languages in a much more impressive rate. Might have opened something up in my brain. But I didn't really know anything before I was 9.

Fun fact, actually, but my mom decided it was time for me to start learning because I began obsessing with a Spice Girls song and wanted to know what they were saying, so my mom told me to figure it out rather than just telling it to me.

I remember when they were singing "Come on, come on" at the song, in my head they were saying "kah-mon, kah-mon" lol

I'm relatively okay with the pronunciation. My difficulty is mainly with the many many conjugations and declensions. :P

Oooh snap! Only, mine isn't something I can consciously utilise. I have a remarkable capacity to react to things I've knocked over, for example, my hand shoots out to grab whatever it is without much input from me. It has been consistent enough that work colleagues have expressed surprise.

Handy for saving small things from falling to their doom.

I'm jealous of this one too. The French accent I was told I was really good at, the rest, not so much.

I guess, I have two other skills, that I wouldn't really consider unique or useful.

One is an uncanny ability to identify voices, specifically in voice acting roles, that I might have heard elsewhere before. Something in the cadence I think.

The other is the ability to remember a face, i've had times, when I can walk past the same stranger on the street a couple of times in a row, and ill remember their face for years. As if to offset this skill, I can't remember a name to save my life. Birthdays either. Can never remember those.

I don't know if this is on quite the same level as Valso's talents (which are pretty impressive), but I'm really good at improvising stories. So, basically, if you show me a picture of someone, or of a group of people, in any context at all, I can immediately come up with a detailed story based on the picture. I mean, like, I can come up with the story off the top of my head and just keeping developing it for an hour or two without prior thought. This wouldn't be that cool, except my friends tell me the stories tend to be pretty funny. I guess I could be a writer or something like that. Idk.

To be honest though, having "super" creativity isn't that great sometimes. Every now and then I'll see a picture and a story will pop up in my head that's funny, and people will look at me because I'm trying really hard not to laugh (and usually fail). It's happened to me on the metro several times—certainly not helping my social anxiety any!
