Not getting through to me? I'm not saying because we have sexism, by automatic virtue then, there exists a difference among the sexes. Not every difference is sexism or homophobia. However, when you break down our society, there are systematic inequalities between the genders (and among each gender themselves, homosexuality as an example) that were set up to purposefully treat the other (anything non [white] heterosexual male) as different and inferior. Certainly, many of these barriers and inequalities have been brought down, but not all and some of them still have lasting effects on us. As a previous example, men can sleep around as much as they want without societal repercussions. For women? They face hell.
Not that I believe by posting this, it will somehow convince you of what I'm saying. Likely, you'll be pissed that I've just more or less repeated my argument for the fourth time without any insight into the point you are trying to make, which I thought I understood and answered, but I guess not. So hopefully then this will offer some kind of clarification for someone else to offer their opinion.

Biologically speaking, men are programmed to have as much sex as possible.

In a world devoid of contraceptives (as the human world was for most of its evolution), male genes use the body as a vehicle to spread our DNA as much as possible in an attempt to ensure survival. Female genes, however, know that they have to deal with a lot of baggage when it comes to sex (9 months of pregnancy being the primary thing, plus X years of child-rearing) so the female sex drive is much more selective in choosing mates (having sex).

So when you have an ecosystem of gay males who don't have to worry about getting pregnant and are programmed to fuck anything that gets them hard, promiscuity occurs naturally. It's nothing to be ashamed of, it's just the way we are.

Both straight and gay scenes are promiscuous. Depends on the bar.

It's not repression and it's not gayness.

It's male sexuality (Loop said it better).

Charley Shively's "Indiscriminate Promiscuity as an Act of Revolution" is quite an interesting read in regards to homosexuality and society's repression of it, then what we should do as a response (hint hint the title). It was written in 1974 but I think it still is very relevant today. I can't find an accessible link so please pm me and I can send you the pdf if interested, or post if you find a link!

well, I don't know about promiscuity to a large degree, mainly because I havn't actually been enough of the closet/honest with myself to consider having a relationship. I feel that I am incredibly lucky that my current boyfriend of 2 months is an individual who has been a good friend for the last 3 or so years. i don't know how normal this is, but I would say that our relationship has been extremely healthy and stable, and could very easily last. To be honest I really wasn't aware initially that there even was a stereotype/tendency towards general promiscuity in the community. I am inclined to believe that the same as heterosexuals, different people have different attitudes towards such things, and the media/public perception probably exagerates the percentage of the population that considers itself highly promiscuous.

Repression in a sense maybe...

Back in the days of homosexuality being illegal, here in England for sure, cruising and other such acts were the way that gays found sex. Relationships were hard to maintain as a secret and so casual sex in notorious gay areas was the norm, communication methods were even devised, including slang words that others couldn't understand as well as visual methods such as different coloured hankies in the back pocket to signify if you are a top or a bottom and a whole umber of other sexual preferences (seriously look it up its actually kinda interesting..well for me anyway!). Consider this was in a time when sex before marriage was considered terrible and you can see why it was considered promiscuous. I doubt gay people have sex more than hetro people, though its just the way its spun in society due to old occurrences like that I have just described.

The use of saunas and dogging have basically become a part of gay 'culture' I guess. Just as the view of gays being 'promiscuous' has been absorbed into hetro culture! Thus, that means using apps for sexual encounters is popular-its what gays have done historically I guess. Same as the sexual nature of pride marches. Plus, if you were straight, you would probably find the wealth of apps, magazines and crappily acted videos online containing tits and vag in just as numerous supply as gay sex stuff, the difference being that as hetrosexuality is a societal norm, people dont think twice about it.

ps, that sounds really smart and credible to me and makes perfect sense, but I am totally stoned right now

I find that yes it is very promiscuous. However since moving to Slovakia to study I've realised how bad the situation really is. It is the most Catholic country of Europe, apparently with 97% Catholics. However they have one gaybar in the second biggest city of the country so they 'tolerate' us rather well. That's not to say I'd go hand in hand down the street (I wouldn't do that in the UK). However, here parents are still quite judgmental and so are people our age, so they have some way to go. But I think this pressure of being outted etc comes with benefits, there are several slags here, but they make up the VAST minority of people who request the gay bar. This is refreshing, you can have friends without them wanting sex, dates without sex, etc. More people want relationships here than in the UK (as a proportion!) however, I AM STILL SINGLE :(.
There is one problem, one person I know is gay, but is so afraid, his parents do know, but they don't like it so try to make him straight. he even tries it on with girls just to try to make himself straight.

So still lots of things to improve here but it's good to some extent

It's just how men are wired biologically. We have high as fuck sex drives. I also think men are programmed to see value in spreading their seed as far as possible between many partners (subconsciously or consciously) to produce more offspring.

So yeah, when men who are sexually attracted to eachother gather within a community, shit's getting raunchy very fast.

Meanwhile straight men are kept in-check by women, who are wired to be more monogamous and take great offense to being cheated on. I really think across the board, most men would either cheat or have an "open relationship" if they had the opportunity and/or permission to, most straight men just don't have either. Many gay couples come to that agreement naturally and amicably, therefore the sheer amount of openly "partnered" and even married gay men you see on these sex apps.

So over 50% of (straight) marriages end in divorce. Of those I would say a great many involved cheating (either as the cause of the divorce or as a result of the divorce so to speak). A great deal of cheaters will never get caught. I would not assume that straights are cheating less than gays. Now I would agree that open exists more in gay than straight relationships. But I really have to wonder how much they really are accepted by the majority of gay guys.

So if the fact that sex with someone who I find desirable, safe, clean, etc is not objectionable for me, if I'm happy having an FB until I find that some other guy who could possibly be that one, if that makes me promiscuous, oh well. This thing of "if your single and you have sex more often than every blue moon" equates you to a male slut, then well I guess I'm a male slut to some.
