More seriously though, we do have "data archaeologists". That is, computer techies who specialise in recovering data from old hardware. Given the amount of data held on fucking floppy disks I've seen kicking around university libraries, I'm guessing that it's going to be a growing market.

And plenty of dedicated archivists, too, but a historian's job is to take the information and put it into an accessible narrative with context and interpretation.
