I'm not even gonna ask. Hopefully the inmates remain calm today!

It was parking lot roadkill and I have to deal with tons of laundry, weirdly busy Sunday guest traffic and I had to reclean a bathroom for a guest because a housekeeper did it wrong.

At least I didn’t find any dead animals in that bathroom. I guess I should be grateful for that.

Yes, even in the hospitality industry, dead animals is on the worse end of the scale. It's probably good your finding the silver lining. Better than finding animal carcasses. Or shitty bed sheets. :noes:

^ Oh I have dealt with feces in bedding many times. I remember someone taking a dump in an unlocked laundry chute at my first hotel job.

 I feel like it's one of those universal things, that everyone who has worked in hospitality has experienced at some point.

So, you're saying no queer couples come to visit and leave their spent gerbils behind for you to care for?

Insomnia. Although it might not be a frown on my face, so much as my face has forgotten how to function.

I can get out of bed in an hour and half and go to work for the day, so that should be fun. Yay.

^ Oh don’t worry you did not make me angry but I do know gerbils have been shoved in places they shouldn’t be.

This thought did make me frown though. :(

I hate monkeys even more than gerbils. Monkeys are like toddlers but with superb dexterity and climbing skills.

"And you thought Ukraine was bad," said Ape leader (and predicted future warlord) Koba. "Just wait until you see what we've got planned." The resulting laugh can only be described as maniacal.

I was called into my boss's office today and got chewed out for taking too many liberties with my schedule. I've been working odd hours and from home quite a bit this year, coming in late and staying late, coming in early and leaving early. I never even stopped to worry about it because the workload has been crazy and I felt like I was doing a really good job keeping up with it all. But I was told in clear terms that no work from home is allowed and whatever flexibility I had been permitted was a privilege that is now revoked.

Very odd experience for me. I've never been on the wrong side of an interaction like that. I'm torn between feelings of guilt for not being completely professional, and frustration that I'm being micromanaged like this in spite of doing an excellent job.

Are you going to restrict yourself to your work hours only? No more overtime, no more pulling late shifts etc etc.

Give them what they ask for. See if they still like it, when they realise how much better they had it, when they let you be flexible.

They made it clear that I'm still supposed to work overtime when it's expected of me. I just can't take a lunch after 1pm, leave early sometimes, or do any work from home.

I updated my resumé last night and sent out a few applications, and I've already gotten one call back. I would like to work somewhere in the 21st century, and I'm thinking it was about time I moved on anyways.

I'm still very unsure of my feelings though. I don't think they were completely wrong, because I was taking liberties and never asked anyone if it was okay. At the same time, I'm annoyed they never talked to me about it if was such an issue for them, I think zero flexibility as company policy is bullshit, I feel simultaneously under- and micro-managed, and I'm underpaid for a high level of productivity and an esoteric skillset. I'm feeling bitter enough right now that I'm struggling to muster a graceful exit.
