Preparing to go on an early Valentines Day date with our boyfriend.

Off to bed - I went to bed early last night and woke up around this time (1.30-2) and spent the rest of the night awake...

Today - listened to music for a couple of hours and been posting on here lol so fingers crossed come 7 or 8 I will wake up and be alright!

I just arrived at work to find that I immediately had to take out the trash in the lobby. Someone stuck some kind of fish dinner in the trash and it was stinking up the place. It’s almost a shame because there was hardly any trash in there besides that fish thing.

I feel you on that one when my stepdads mom does the Feast of 7 fishes and we all go home smelling like a woman who doesn’t wash down there.

I’m wondering whether to get a replacement stovetop pressure cooker or buy one of those pressure cooker/slow cooker combos (like an Instant Pot), but I’m unsure if the pressure cooker part of this combo pot gives you the same outcome. Can anyone chime in on this? I’m a bit wary of the face that it has a screen with buttons and feel that the more primitive stovetop pressure cooker can last me a lot longer.

I can't speak directly to pressure cooker/slow cooker combos, but I've found over the years, that combo devices have a habit of performing neither task aswell as they might had they focused on one thing.

My old combination washer/dryer, never really dried very well and the clothes always had a musky damp smell. I also had a combination aircon/heater unit and it was pretty rubbish at both tasks.

When it comes to kitchen equipment and appliances, I usually go for the tried and true variety and avoid digital when possible. And infra-red thermometer and digital scales being the exception. Digital microwave too come to think of it. Everything else, mechanical.

What you using your prospective pressure cooker for?

What did you use your stovetop pressure cooker for? IPs are limited in what they can do for canned goods, for example. If you've got endless room to store gadgets you use on occasion, then PopTart's on the money. I however preferred to get rid of the slow cooker which was heavy, big, and kind of a pain. I had no pressure cooker and I was much more reluctant to give up my rice cooker - thank goodness I didn't! I just never got to where I liked the Instant Pot rice as well though I have a friend who swears by it, but I'm kind of particular about my rice and admit it might work better with lower gluten rice.

I have found it very useful for making yoghurt - stir, close, select, start, and forget.

No, you probably won't get what you are looking for if you are particular about your pressure cooker and have recipes for such. I am new to pressure cooking and find it okay but I'm not dying to pressure cook everything and got really tired of hunting for new recipes. I'm less thrilled with pressure cooking since it makes one much more dependent on the quality of the recipes. I still prefer to just work on the stove.

However, if you want to cook a whole chicken during the heat of summer and don't have a grill, it's not going to heat the place up like the oven. You have to go to extra lengths if you want crispy skin, but if you just want to toss stuff in and hit start (for whatever time is suggested) and forget it, you'll get a decent meal.

I didn't go for the small or tiny sizes and also bought a much cheaper knock-off. I can't say how it compares to the IP since I have never technically used an IP, but for about half the cost, I'm happy with what I got (especially since I've gone back to my rice cooker). Besides figuring out what size you need/want, you have to deal with all the number of preset functions - which really is a load of nonsense. I've encountered way more recipes that call for manual than I have for most of the settings (other than yoghurt).

Oh, you might already know, but you can't select cooking temps - it's more like high, medium, and low with either sealed (pressure) or venting. There might be some newer options now, I've had mine for a couple years now, but that's what I have on my cooker.

Digital pressure cookers are versatile and do pressure cooking great (that's their primary design function) as well as being safer, but their slow cooking feature is shite.

I almost always work either 1-9 or 3-11 so there is plenty of time to have a bath beforehand. However, I only have baths in the morning if there’s an issue like illness.

Okay, yeah, it makes sense if you have half the day before actually going into work. A nice soak before hand might not be such a bad thing. I imagined it being a mad rush! Plus, by time you get home, I should imagine a bath after work is a rather bothersome prospect. But then I'm old and in bed by 11pm!

René's last two Samsung phones could do VR with a headset designed in conjunction with Oculus.

I always thought it was a bit gimmicky, and I feel René never used it enough to justify the costs.

Samsung must have felt similarly, because they stopped producing the headsets for the latest phones.

I just finished an assignment for my course on anatomy, and I'm now reading an article by Morris Lazerowitz about universals while listening (again!) to the opera, Dido and Aeneas, in the background. I started bobbing my head from side to side and smiling like a madman when Belinda sang the refrain, "Pursue thy conquest, Love!" It's simply so, so very catchy!
