Do you still make your hot chocolate with water instead of milk, or have you shunned that PG beverage for more adult beverages?

I got tired of that, switched to making it with milk, got tired of that, started putting Bailey's Irish Cream into it, got tired of that too, then started just drinking Bailey's Irish Cream (and ALDI's imitation product) on its own. :D

That's the only alcohol I ever drink. I drink it in tiny shot glasses to conserve it and because alcohol isn't very good for you, though it's so tasty, I sometimes feel like chugging down the whole bottle in one go. :P

OT: A little bit of Brenden's appetite suppressant (MDAI). I accidentally put it into my coffee instead of Brenden's strawberry juice this morning. It's pretty effective stuff.

 Eww, I don't like Bailey's. That's one of the few things my mom drinks along with Kahlua and cream (you might like that too, since you seem to enjoy the flavor of coffee.)

René doesn't like the taste of coffee. I have a Bialetti moka pot and make really nice coffee, yet he prefers just using instant coffee when he needs caffeine.

Interesting. Sometimes people don't like to drink coffee because of the hint of bitterness but they like coffee-flavored items like coffee ice cream or Kahlua.

Ice-blended coffee drinks are the best nonalcoholic beverage ever. :awesome:

I love coffee ice cream, coffee cake and tiramisu :)
Kahlua is okay.

I'm not sure coffee cake here actually has any coffee in it, but tiramisu is what I make when I have guests. It looks really impressive but takes very little time. I do it the easy way and skip the zabaglione, because I don't want to cook anything. I dip crunchy lady fingers in a mix of espresso, kahlua and rum (the more alcohol the better). Then I layer it in a loaf pan (perfect fit) with a filling made from mascarpone, cream cheese, marsala, mini chocolate chips, candied citron, cinnamon, vanilla bean paste, confectioners sugar and whipped cream. Shake some cocoa powder on top and garnish with blackberries or raspberries macerated in Grand Marnier. Everyone loves it. One person even remarked it had so much booze in it that it was the only dessert he ever tried that could end in a DUI. :awesome:

On topic: Red wine.

Tiramisu takes me forever to make because I'd rather make the mascarpone myself than shell out 8 bucks. The downside is I have to let it sour for a couple days in the refrigerator to get the right taste.

Hendricks. That and my housemate's blow up pool are the only things getting me through this scorching summer.

You know that feeling when you're really excited for a new film/album/concert/whatever you've been waiting to experience and finally know when you'll see it and that it'll be soon and you're just dieing from anticipation? <- me right now

A homosexual who makes his own dessert cheese?! How have we not met, my dear? Enchanté! :monocle: For my Christmas Eve festivities, I made homemade ricotta (6 cups milk, 1 cup cream, a few tablespoons of lemon juice to curdle it before the awaiting cheesecloth) for my cannoli. I also made homemade candied orange and meyer lemon peel for the filling (blanch and dip in ice water three times, the soak in syrup as long as you can), though I ran out of time for homemade shells. A hint of orange flower water offers a mysterious hint of joie de vivre. I agree that mascarpone is highway robbery. Trader Joe's is the best deal, if you have one nearby.

René, it's very easy! Less than an hour. Report back!

Horizon: Hendricks! My favorite gin, and one of the world's great spirits. I love it in an Aviation. For a classic version of that drink I might go with Bombay Sapphire, lemon, Luxardo maraschino and a splash of creme de violette. But I prefer my twist: Hendricks with its cucumber and rose-pedal notes, Maraska maraschino (still made in Zadar, I like this rougher version, if one is able to house two maraschino liqueurs in his cabinet, as I am wont to do) and meyer lemon steeped with cucumber, cardamom, coriander and agave nectar.

Enchanté indeed. It's nice to finally have a kindred spirit around here (though I think our cooking styles are quite different).

On Christmas Eve, I was cooking for a family with young children on incredibly short notice, so I wound up making classic French onion soup. It's one of my favorite recipes because it's easy and it's a crowd-pleaser. I didn't get to do anything fancy because I didn't even have any cognac, so I just seasoned it with wine and thyme and did the typical cheesy croûte gratin, and the kids loved it. I've probably got off easy up until now because I doubt any of the people I cook for could even tell me what thyme is.

I need my pen tablet. Editing pixels with a trackpad is annoying. :pfft:

We'll be home by Tuesday, though. So I'll probably have it done by the end of next week.

Brenden wrote:I need my pen tablet. Editing pixels with a trackpad is annoying. :pfft:

I dunno, I feel like a tablet is way too precise. When I'm doing pixel work (lately I've been using MSPaint zoomed in to do minecraft schematics) I like to do each dot individually. So a mouse is always better for me.

And yeah, trackpads are annoying for any form of art, really. Try using a macbook touchpad in Windows if you want to know what hell is.

Edit: Actual on topic response...
Did y'all know that more caffeine is lost the longer beans are roasted? So this grande bold I'm drinking right now has less caffeine than it would if I ordered blond.

Though I do like the richer flavor.

I think a non-Apple trackpad in Windows is like the ninth circle of hell.
