I am a fan, and will be watching it. My one big criticism is the same as with a lot of writing nowadays. They set up story arcs with huge mysteries or cliffhangers or throw in something to elicit lots of fan theories - but don’t actually seem to plan ahead as to where they’re going to go with them, then end up trying to tie up everything at the end resulting in a big hasty unsatisfying mess (here’s looking at you Lost, Doctor Who the Steven Moffat era, final seasons of GoT...).
Snoke was a prime example of what the hell. Maybe his story will get some fleshing out in this final film, although I doubt it given how much they need to tie up.
It's interesting you've mentioned that as it became quite clear that whatever JJ had planned for EP VIII was pretty much brushed off the table by Rian Johnson which is why we haven't felt the continuity in story, with JJ now back to do damage control on the story.

I am anticipating that Snoke will be the biggest plot hole of them all unless he's some sort of failed clone of Palpatine's which would explain Rey's potential origins as one of many cloned apprentices and potentially his survival of the events of Episode VI
Say what you want about the prequels but at least Lucas had a stranglehold over the story progression.

Always been a fan, and I'll be going to see it.
I feel i'm losing track of what's going on though, as I've not been keeping up with all the latest sound bites. There's a lot of loose ends that need resolution.
To be honest, I actually preferred Rogue One to Episodes VII and VIII.
Perhaps Sidious got his wish and was able to transcend death, just like Qui-Gon Jinn?
I'm not sure the Sith have the ability to do that though. He's definitely there in
some form in the trailer, which is cool. I love Ian McDiarmid

Like you, I also think that Rogue One somehow captured the feel of Star Wars much better than the recent Skywalker saga films.
I reckon he either just survived, the way Maul did his demise or alternative there is precedent in the now "Legends" canon for him to have cloned himself in the event his original-version were to come to harm.
