Do you know of any sci-fi and/or horror tv shows with LGBT characters? That's all I'm watching in principle - sci-fi/horor and a combination of them and also some fantasy shows (like "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys") but at the same time I hate "Game of Trolls". I've never thought I'd see LGBT scenes in a sci-fi show but when I did, I enjoyed them, so I started looking for more such tv shows.
So far I've seen "The 100" (kind of got addicted to this show), "Star Trek Discovery" (still waiting for a 3rd season) and "Wynona Earp" but the last one seemed like a pathetic and boring attempt to copy "Supernatural", so I abandoned it.

I think most shows have LGBT characters nowadays. Sometimes it doesn't add anything to the narrative and it just feels like they're ticking a box. Or they retrospectively decide a character was LGBT all along, like Sulu in Star Trek.

If you're after scenes rather than story lines I recall True Blood having a few steamy ones. It's fantasy rather than sci fi, and like a lot of shows the earlier seasons were better than the latter, but it might be worth a look.

The Babadook is A Big Gay Icon ever since Netflix mistakenly put the psychological horror film The Babadook in the LGBT category.

More seriously, though, I can only really think of Torchwood. Dr. Who spin off series. For fantasy, I liked the new Dark Crystal series. That has some lgbt characters, I believe.

The general opinion of other LGBT members throughout the internet is that we'll never see a whole LGBT storyline or a happy ending in tv series specifically. As if all the directors are homophobes and let us see LGBT characters because it has been enforced on them but they keep telling us all the LGBT characters will be killed because in their opinion that's what we deserve. And frankly I kinda agree with the opinion of other LGBT members, judging by the few shows having an LGBT character I've seen so far:
• The 100 - Lexa died on the next day, right after she consumated her relationship with Wanheda. They won't kill Wanheda too since she's in the center of everything and the main role but considering we haven't seen her in the last 2 or 3 episodes makes me concerned about her future because she is bisexual after all. Sure, there are other gay characters (Nathan and his boyfriend) but their roles are even lesser and we may yet see their deaths too.
• Chicago Fire - frankly this is the only social tv show I like. It had a lesbian character in the first 3 seasons: the paramedic Leslie Shay who was killed too.
• Star Trek Discovery - the ship's chief of medics Hugh Culber was also killed and he was gay too.
• Wynona Earp - I didn't watch that past season 1 but somewhere I read it had a lesbian character who was killed too later.
I wouldn't mind having an entire LGBT storyline along the sci-fi story but somehow I doubt we'll have that anytime soon, let alone a happy ending for any LGBT couples.

I like horrors, so I'll check Badabook. :) And the Dark Crystal - that's a title I've never heard before.

As for Doctor Who things are a little complicated there which is the reason I haven't downloaded it yet. I saw (on YouTube) a top # video of sci-fi tv shows and on it they said nothing on Doctor Who ever stays the same. Which is kind of a setback for me cuz I don't like changes much, especially big changes - in life or on the screen. I hate changes so much that I can use the same program version for years and once I've setup the theme the way I like it on the Cinnamon desktop I never change it, unless it stops working with the coming of a next version of Cinnamon. And with a tv show that's constantly changing, I don't think I'm ever gonna like it.
If you've ever seen "Primeval" (the British one, not the American - the American version is crap), then you remember when Nick Cutter went through an anomally to find his wife and when he came back almost everything was the same except for the fact Claudia was a rich and powerful b*tch and didn't know him at all. That's a kind of a change I hate and from what I hear about Doctor Who, it's like that all the time.

IIRC there was a gay couple in the Battlestar Galactica prequel series Caprica. I think there was also a gay character in Battlestar Galactica, too, but not as prominent.

I've seen the whole BSG series (quite boring) and don't remember seeing a gay character there. But I'll checkout Caprica, I've never heard it before.

It may have only been shown in the mini webisodes.

BSG's gay character was only ever acknowledged as gay in webisodes, yes.

It annoyed me a lot at the time.

I thought about BSG when I was writing my last response but I couldn't think of any LGBT characters. Sounds like they Sulu'd them. Who was it out of interest?

That aside BSG was brilliant and I've always wanted to watch Caprica but it's never been on any of the streaming services that we have whenever I've looked.

We download most of the things from torrents. Politicians and the major police force meant to fight heavy crimes download from torrents as well, so why shouldn't we? :D
Speaking of which, Caprica is downloaded. I also found another interesting tv show just now, though IDK if it has any LGBT characters. Its first seasons started this year, so we'll see, I guess. The name is "Cursed":

I thought BSG was brilliant too and feel like I'd like to rewatch it someday, but not soon. It was great, but there was so much suffering in that show...

I really liked Caprica! Brenden and I downloaded it and watched it a few years back.

Yeah it certainly took us on an emotional rollercoaster, but it was always gripping. I watched for the first time about ten years ago I think, and then rewatched it all about a year or so ago. It had been so long it was almost like watching it again for the first time. There were certain things I'd completely misremembered or thought happened in a different order.

This is on our list. It's been very heavily plugged by Netflix over here and has been a long time coming. Katherine Langford is a great actress so should be worth a watch.

It was Felix Gaeta.

It's possible when there are not enough women for all the characters, the writers would Sulu them because it's easier than introducing a new character, especially in an environment where people die out faster than new ones are being born.

The Magicians is a decent fantasy show with a fair amount of gay shit. It's kind of like sexy mean Hogwarts.

Thanks!

Because I'm impatient I had already googled it, so I saw it was him and also who he was in a relationship with. I feel like maybe I did already know and had forgotten, although I don't think I'd seen any webisodes.

Plus his name was a clue: Felix Gay-Duh.

I had seen the Razor special though, in which we found out Cain was gay. I don't think I saw it the first time round (can't remember what platform) but I think it was included as a regular episode on Amazon Prime.

Anyway not great LGBT representation but an awesome show nonetheless.

I think it's a matter of what you wanna hear. It could be Felix Gate-Ah [geita:], as in someone who comes from the Gate cuz he had 2 roles on Stargate SG-1: first one of the young Encarans (Eliam, 2000) and then Katep - one of the young rebelious ancient Egyptians (Katep, 2005). BSG was started in 2003, so his role on "Stargate SG-1" in 2000 makes him Gate-Ah. :D

I'd forgotten he was in that. You win.

I've seen all of SG1, probably seen most of the early seasons two or three times. I thought Atlantis was awesome too. Never got into Universe though and never seen any of infinity. Every now and again there's talk of rebooting it all, starting with remaking the original movie into a trilogy, which makes me nervous given how so many other great franchises have been ruined in the last few years, (BSG being an exception obvs).

I didn't even know there was something else after Universe. Of that I've seen only the first three episodes but they were boring as hell, so I abandoned Universe.
I don't mind rebooting of shows because it means better effects but in this case I'd rather have a reissue with fixed bugs and 16:9 resolutions. There's one bug in SG-1's effects they never fixed. If you don't see it, open the video in another tab and read the description.
