Thinking of getting an XBOX S, specifically:

Since I don't have a high end TV I don't see the need to go with anything more expensive for casual gaming. Any different recommendations and why?

Xbox One is a good choice, especially because they have more cross-platform games with PC, like Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 right now, so if you have any friends with a PC its a nice feature right now so your able to play with them. I personally love my Xbox, the only thing is, there isn't a whole lot of exclusive games out for the Xbox One, that "W" belongs to PS4 but with E3 2018 starting June 12 im sure Xbox is going to fix that and have a lot more exclusive Titles this year.

PC. So much more versatile. You can use an Xbox controller. You can update the graphics card at will, and sell the old graphics card (often for a significant portion of the new card's cost). Your games are yours for life and can reliably be played indefinitely on new devices. You can emulate old consoles and play old games. Games are often cheaper, with sale prices going far below sale prices for console games (especially digital download ones); there are even really third-party websites where you can get activation codes for rock bottom prices, or even Amazon often.

You can even do your taxes.

The benefits are legion.

There is no doubt that PC is and will always be the better option, if your able to afford that in your budget, id say PC all the way too. But if not Xbox is still a fine option.

Thanks all. Went with the xbox s last night. I appreaciate the feedback.

Yes, a PC would be a good option except other factors. I want to invest not a lot of time. In the past I bought components and made my own. Expensive but you can end up with the exact system you want and in two years it is extremely outdated. So more time and money up front. I'm not a gamer. Just looking for something to kill a little time every once in a while. So again PC would be too much at this point. I have a laptop for work. You get the point. A pc is just not good choice for me at this time.

Taxes are done for the year. Switched over to TurboTax the online version. So all I need is a browser on a piece of shit system and I'll be able to do my taxes just fine.
